The Survey

Please enter date of photograph, the number of minutes since the dung was deposited and your best approximation of the weather, wind and temperature at the time of the photo. Ideally, give GPS location, but if not known, then OS Grid reference (remember the letters) and the nearest town or village and the county. GPS can be found in Multimap (see below).

Then, either count the Dung Flies on the pat in the field or take a photograph. (Don't count the ones on the grass, only those in contact with the dung.) If you send the photo, a count is unnecessary.  Only submissions which include a photo can contribute to NBN distribution data.

Repeat counts at the same site are particularly valuable. Besides location data, these will give an indication of the timing of the spring peak and the population numbers at different seasons.
